Shellharbour Bahá'í Community offers study circles which provide opportunity for studying and discussing the Bahá'í Writings and Teachings in small groups.
These programs are inspired by and based on the Bahá'í Writings and focus on personal development and fostering service to the community. The basic concept underlying these study circles is to promote personal spiritual transformation and our service to others.
These programs involve groups of about 10 participants and involve about 40 hours to complete the program. They can be run as an intensive session over a series of days or as weekly sessions of about 2 hours over several weeks. It depends entirely on the participants.
Reflections on the Life of the Spirit
Every journey has a destination. Our life is a journey. Our destination is an evolving one, with a clear vision. This study circle addresses our spiritual journey, the purpose of our life and our destination covering three main areas of study from the Bahá'í Writings. The study circle comprises a group of 8 -10 people meeting to discuss and study the material in a facilitated format over about 8 to 10 sessions.
Understanding the Bahá'í Writings
To develop the capacity to read the Sacred Texts and meditate on their meaning to advance our spiritual understanding for the progress of our physical and spiritual life.
To gain an understanding of the meaning of prayer and its capacity to further spiritual development.
Life and Death
To understand the nature of the soul and life after death. To understand that life is not the changes and chances of this world, and its true significance is found in the development of the soul.
A small charge is made to cover the cost of a book (approx $10) and can be paid on the first night of the course. The course can be run on evenings, daytime or weekends. Most courses will be held at the Shell Cove Community Centre.
